About...
This tutorial will guide you in the changing and fixing of some sounds involved with weapons. This is most useful for tags that come with bad sounds. For example I, a while back found the duel SMG tags that just had bad sounds, like a scraping nose that was so loud and annoying that you could not play with them. I have mostly experienced this with duel smg tags and single smg tags. So as a bonus I have put this tutorial in with this pack. I just know it will be useful to somebody. This tut covers the melee sounds, the reload sounds, the ready sound and the pickup sound. The only way I know of to change the firing sound is by changing the firing effect which I won't go into. The reason is because I do not have enough experience dealing with them

It's very frustrating when you spend a great deal of time looking for a weapon tag just to figure out that because of its sounds that you can't play with it. You just can't release a mod or a map that has a weapon with nasty sounds. For this tutorial will we be using the normal halo assault rifle sounds. I will tell you where to find the assault rifle sounds for each thing. This is the final tut in the list so by now you are experienced enough that I don't have to go into a huge amount of detail.

Melee sounds: scroll down between "export to functions" and "actor firing parameters" the area you want is called "heat." GO to the player melee damage tag and click the open button. Now this has opened the melee.damage_effect tag. Scroll down about half way and locate the "sound" which is above the "breaking effect." Click on the three dots and find this tag "sound\sfx\impulse\melee\assault_impact" now exit just the damage effect tag and of course save changes. We are not done yet.

Now in the main .weapon tag scroll down under "miscellaneous" to the "interface" section. Open the "first person animations tag." Now in the animations tag scroll down to "sound references" this is above nodes. Click the drop down box and select whatever melee one there is. Now click the three dots and find this tag "sound\sfx\weapons\weapon_anims\ar_melee."

Reload sounds: While still in this animation tag use the drop down bar and select whatever reload sound there is. Now hit the three dots and find this tag "sound\sfx\weapons\weapon_anims\ar_reload"

Ready Sounds: still in this animation tag hit the drop down box and select whatever weapon ready sound there is. Hit the three dots and find the tag called "sound\sfx\weapons\assault rifle\weapon ready"

Now exit that animation tag and save changes. Now one more sound to go.

Pickup Sounds: Under interface you will see something called "pickup sound" click the three dots and find this tag "sound\sfx\weapons\weapon_pickup_ammo\ar_ammo"

now exit the .weapon tag save changes and compile your map to test these.

There we have fixed the main sounds of a weapon. i just use the AR sounds cause it's easy and they always will sound somewhat decent. You should not have problems and should not have to do this to a tag, but who knows you might encounter it. You could use other sounds if you want, but for that just sort of play around with the sounds and see what you like.

I hope this helped
